VPN with 24-8 DOC 3 WIRELESS(DOCSIS)

Dear

Telenet modem was broken few month ago then it was replaced to new type one by telenet engineer.
Currently I am using  "24*8 DOC 3 WIRELESS(DOCSIS) ". Old one is Motorola SVG6540E OEM

I am using established IPSec VPN (site to site) connection between home and other country.
After replaced modem, established connection is disconnected many times.
Currently the connection keeps only maximum 1 days.

logs.jpg

logs.jpgIt was keeps the connection more than 30 days before telenet was replaced modem.

It will be recover the IPSec connection if I restart function of IPV6 firewall on modem as below.

1) I access to"My telenet" on telenet website
2) Go to "Geavanceerde instellingen" and "IPv6 Firewall & rules" tabs.
3) I active/deactive "Firewall bescherming".

It is unnecessary to reboot/restart my network equipment or telenet modem.

So I am thinking it is not my device/Config problem. because my device is unnecessary to restart it.
It seems something wrong the IPv6 firewall function of new modem.

I did not have any issue when I was using old type modem.

I have already contacted Telenet support, But they said

"You can use internet.  IP-Sec is not supported. We can not replace to old type modem."
Telenet support suggest to post about this issue to forum.

I do not want to restart IPv6 function every time. I cannot restart the function by script.
Someone can you help me?

Regards

Did you try this settings:

Firewall: actief

Protocol: L2TP

Source: Any

Destination: Host IPadress

Mode: Accepteer

I see that the SSG5 has router function. Maybe it is better whit modem only?

I think that the best thing to do is to replace the HGW (modem with wifi) with a modem-only. You have to add a router yourself but It'll solve your problem.

You only have to take your current modem to a Telenet center and ask for a modem-only. They should give it to you for free.

Be aware that the modem-only doesn't have wifi or a router function. It has only 1 ethernet port (and 2 phone ports) and that's it.

The other downside is that if you have a digicorder, it won't be interactive behind your own router. You can solve this by adding a switch directly behind the modem or enabling IPTV in the router if possible.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Dear

Thank you for your reply.

I am using Degicoder and Phone. My understanding that the equipment should connect as below diagram. Is it correct?

Regarding modem only mode, the modem speak PPPoE or something else (ie DHCP)  for connect to telenet network?  The  port is Trunk?

I would like to know which device has global IP. Also I wonder how to setting upmy SSG-5 WAN port (by DHCP/Assign IP/PPPoE).

Thank you for your support.

Yes, that is correct.

The modem is just DHCP you don't have to configure anything. Change the WAN setting on your router to DHCP and that's it, your router should receive an external IP from Telenet. (A reboot is probably necessary.)

I don't really  know how the modem 'speaks' to the Telenet network and actually it's not really important. It should work out of the box. By the way, you can't configure anything on it.

I hope this helps you. 🙂
