WiFree won't connect, opens Diagnostics (MacOs Ventura)

I haven't used wifree for a long while but when I tried to connect today from my MacOS Laptop it did not work. It took several attempts for the login to be accepted, but now when I click to "connect" it quickly brings up the Mac Network Diagnostics dialog, which is an indication that something is wrong (possibly a "dropped connection"). Should I expect it to work or are telenet and apple somewhat incompatible?

It should work, try to remove the existing WiFree-network from your Mac: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208941

Then try again to connect.
